Food & Diet"We are what we eat" A well known phrase which has been adapted from the 1826 original version ‘tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are’ (Anthelme Brillat-Savarin, 1826), but still as relevant today as it was nearly 200 years ago. In many newspapers, magazines or radio broadcasts there is a section on health. Increasingly diseases such as Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and many skin conditions are being linked to poor eating habits and an over reliance on convenience and take away foods. With convenience food on a dramatic increase it is not surprising that the associated health conditions are also on the same rising trend. This situation appears to confirm that, in coming to his conclusion way back in 1826,  Brillat-Savarin was onto something when he realised that what we eat massively impacts our health."

As a nutritional therapist I am very aware of the impact of the foods I eat and the impact they can have. However, I am also realistic enough to know that everything should be in moderation, so it’s important to enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple or a slice of cake when out with friends but ensure this is part of a balanced eating day. If you would like more information on balanced eating and how to eat for optimal health or you have a particular health concern or condition please contact me to see how I can assist you in your quest to be healthy through good nutrition.

As we head into winter, endure colder temperatures and look forward to the joy of Christmas we should also think about the germs that accompany this season! Try and beat the winter blues this season by keeping colds and flu away. By taking a good multi vitamin you can help boost your immune system. Some recommended supplements come from Biocare and they have a good range of multi vitamins for both adults and children.
